CertiTrek Adds Long-Term Care Designation to Family of Top Industry-Recognized Certifications
CertiTrek, representing the world's top industry-recognized certification companies, announces the acquisition of the Corporation for Long-Term Care Certification, Inc., and the Certified in Long-Term Care (CLTC) designation
DURHAM, N.C. — CertiTrek, representing the world's top industry-recognized certification companies, announces the acquisition of the Corporation for Long-Term Care Certification, Inc., and the Certified in Long-Term Care (CLTC) designation.
The CLTC designation gives financial professionals training in the important, challenging, and growing field of long-term care planning.
"As our country continues to age, we see tremendous growth potential in long-term care training for insurance, financial service, legal, and accounting professionals," CertiTrek President Brad Cump said, adding, "We are honored to add the established and respected CLTC designation and training programs to our family of quality certification pathways."
Elder law attorney Harley Gordon, Esq. created CLTC in 1997 because he believed that long-term care planning was an essential component to comprehensive financial, retirement, and estate planning.
"The impact of an unexpected need for care has serious, if not irreversible consequences, to families and their ability to keep future financial commitments. The CLTC course was specifically created to give advisors and other professionals the insight, confidence, and competence to proactively engage their clients. CertiTrek is an ideal partner to carry this mission into the future," Gordon said.
Gordon will continue to work with CertiTrek as a consultant, national spokesperson, and editorial contributor. The daily operations of CLTC will continue under the experienced leadership of CLTC General Manager, Jennifer White. Bill Comfort, a CLTC instructor for 13 years, has been named to the new position of Director of Training and Development.
The CLTC designation can be obtained in one of two ways: an intensive, two-day, live interactive course taught by experienced instructors, or online. Both options require students to pass a comprehensive, proctored exam. The integrity of the course is evidenced by the granting of continuing education credits in all states, as well as by the CFP Board of Standards.
CLTC also offers additional training options including CE and non-CE presentations on various topics related to long-term care planning and the proper use of insurance. A one-day Immersion program couples LTC planning principles with practical applications for financial advisors and insurance sales professionals.
"Financial and insurance firms who've sponsored CLTC training see their advisors as better able to protect the emotional, physical and financial well-being of their clients and their families. Students learn how to create appropriate plans and recommend appropriate funding solutions. Our training has been shown to not only increase LTC competency, but it also improves performance across other disciplines," Jennifer White said.
The CLTC planning model and its training programs have been endorsed by leading financial service companies including Ameriprise, Genworth, John Hancock, Nationwide, Northwestern Mutual, OneAmerica, and Thrivent, to name a few.
Approximately 4,000 people participate in CLTC training each year, of which 1,200 earn their CLTC designation, which is recognized by major insurance carriers and Broker Dealers.
