Three of the most common designations are Machinery &amp; Equipment Appraiser (MEA), <a href=\"https:\/\/nebbinstitute.wordpress.com\/2011\/03\/31\/2010\/05\/12\/getting-a-cmea-designation\/\">Certified Machinery &amp; Equipment Appraiser<\/a> (CMEA), and Senior Business Analyst (SBA). They all sound suitably impressive, but what do they all mean?<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">A CMEA is a designation awarded by<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nebbinstitute.com\/\"> NEBB Institute<\/a>, the industry leader in USPAP-compliant Machinery &amp; Equipment Appraisals. A CMEA undergoes comprehensive training on the approaches to value, depreciation, value determination,<a href=\"https:\/\/nebbinstitute.wordpress.com\/2011\/03\/31\/2010\/05\/20\/what-is-uspap\/\"> USPAP<\/a> regulations, and ethics. A Certified Machinery &amp; Equipment Appraisal submitted by a CMEA will withstand scrutiny by the IRS, courts, CPAs, and others.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The MEA designation, though similar, is not the same as a Certified Machinery &amp; Equipment Appraiser. An MEA is only authorized to analyze and consult concerning a machinery and equipment appraisal.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">An SBA is a title conferred by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.societyofbusinessanalysts.com\/\">International Society of Business Analysts<\/a> which displays the credential of an MEA, but is neither authorized nor trained to submit a USPAP-compliant Certified Machinery &amp; Equipment Report that is defensible and will hold up to scrutiny.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">When it comes to having your machinery or equipment appraised, be sure you\u2019re dealing with a CMEA .<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><em>The<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nebbinstitute.org\/\"> NEBB Institute<\/a> endorses and strives to observe the highest standards of professional ethics to preserve the public trust inherent in the professional appraisal practice.
