I get a lot of questions about whether the SPSM Certification is \u201cauthorized\u201d or \u201crecognized\u201d or \u201caccredited\u201d by government bodies. I thought that I would answer that type of question here.<\/p>\n

I cannot say how all governments operate with regard to professional business certifications. But I do know how the US government, and other similar governments, handle them. Quite simply, they don\u2019t.<\/p>\n

Unlike medical licenses, the US government does not get involved with reviewing professional business certification programs. They leave the validation process where it belongs \u2013 in the hands of the organizations and individuals who stand to benefit from certification.<\/p>\n

So, how do you know if a purchasing certification\u00a0program is legitimate? Consider three things.<\/p>\n

First, what employers are enrolling their purchasers in the certification program?<\/p>\n

Second, what employers are seeking to employ individuals with the certification?<\/p>\n

Third, what are people saying about the certification?<\/p>\n
