I have a couple of podcasts in \u201cthe can.\u201d The first one corresponds with the article \u201cSuppliers\u2019 Secrets For Negotiating With Purchasing.\u201d I admit that this first one shows how \u201cgreen\u201d I am in this new medium. But, the more I do, the better I get, so stay tuned!<\/p>\n
While we\u2019re on the subject of the article, I\u2019d like to share some thoughts I had when putting together this article.<\/p>\n
One of the concerns that I had in putting together this type of article was that purchasing professionals would see purchasing negotiating tips from a sales professional to be self-serving. I believe that I addressed this in a couple of ways.<\/p>\n
First, I chose to interview a sales professional that I trust.<\/p>\n
Second, I filtered all of the content of the interview through my own purchasing mindset. As an example, Ken encourages purchasing managers to share information in a negotiating situation. But in the interview and the article, I am quick to point out that there are good and bad salespeople out there and that the purchasing manager has to use her judgement in deciding whether to disclose information and how much to share.<\/p>\n
So, I believe with these two points in mind, we really put together an article that can help purchasing managers in their negotiating endeavors.<\/p>\n
