While there are no actual medals being awarded for the Purch-lympics, there are three prizes:<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 The \u201cGold Medal\u201d \u2013 A full scholarship to earn the SPSM<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> Certification* (valued at $1,149) awarded to the finalist with the highest number of votes.<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 The \u201cSilver Medal\u201d \u2013 Enrollment in one of Next Level Purchasing\u2019s full-length supply chain online classes (valued at $209) awarded to the finalist with the second highest number of votes.<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 The \u201cBronze Medal\u201d \u2013 The \u201cSupply Management in The Real World\u201d eBook (valued at $79) awarded to the finalist with the third highest number of votes.<\/p>\n<p>How can you enter? You will need to submit the following to be eligible for the Purch-lympics competition. Twenty-five (25)** responses that meet the following criteria and are free of major grammatical and spelling errors, will be selected as semi-finalists.<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 Write a 300-350 word essay describing a purchasing\/procurement problem that you have encountered, what action(s) you took to manage\/resolve the problem, and the ultimate result or outcome achieved.<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 Include your name, title, and location.<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 Include a digital picture of yourself.<\/p>\n<p>Please submit a completed entry by email to <a href=\"&#x6d;&#97;&#105;l&#x74;&#x6f;&#58;s&#x75;&#x70;&#112;o&#x72;&#x74;&#64;n&#x65;&#x78;&#116;l&#x65;&#x76;&#101;l&#x70;&#x75;&#114;&#99;h&#x61;&#x73;&#105;n&#x67;&#x2e;&#99;o&#x6d;\">&#x73;&#x75;&#x70;&#112;&#111;&#114;t&#64;&#x6e;&#x65;&#x78;&#x74;&#108;&#101;ve&#x6c;&#x70;&#x75;&#x72;&#99;&#104;as&#x69;&#x6e;&#x67;&#x2e;&#99;&#111;&#109;<\/a>; include \u201cPurch-lympics Entry\u201d in the subject line. Entries must be received no later than Sunday, August 17, 2008 at 11:59PM EST. Entries are limited to one entry per individual.<\/p>\n<p>So how do you win?<\/p>\n<p>Five essays will be posted on the Next Level Purchasing Web site and linked from this blog on each of the following days: August 19, August 20, August 21, August 22, and August 25. Purchasers around the globe will be able to view the entries and vote*** for one essay each day which they feel had the best essay. Voting will be open each day from 8:00AM EST through 11:45PM EST. The essay with the highest number of votes will be declared the winner of the Purch-lympics.
