In an earlier article, \u201cIs Your Procurement Resume All Wrong<\/a>?\u201d, we gave you traditional and non-traditional Procurement resumes formats. Each of these formats has its own pros and cons, and the format you end up picking will have a significant impact on your job search.<\/p>\n

In this post, we will focus on the differences in resumes that outline responsibilities versus results.<\/p>\n

For example, \u201cManaged a 12-employee procurement team\u201d is a responsibility. \u201cIncreased the procurement team\u2019s productivity by 15%\u201d is a result.<\/p>\n

\u201cWas responsible for customer satisfaction levels\u201d is a responsibility. \u201cImproved customer satisfaction from a 3.1\/5 average to a 4.3\/5 average\u201d is a result.<\/p>\n

\u201cTransformed purchase-to-pay process\u201d is a responsibility. \u201cReduced average invoice backlog from 32 days to 3 days through transforming the purchase-to-pay process\u201d is a result.<\/p>\n

\u201cNegotiated contracts for information technology purchases\u201d is a responsibility. \u201cSaved the company million through negotiation of information technology purchase contracts. (Diazepam<\/a>) \u201d<\/p>\n

There are four keywords I\u2019ve used in these examples: saved, increased, reduced, <\/strong>and improved<\/strong>. These are results-oriented words that should be the focus of your procurement resume. It would help if you used these words as often as possible because they indicate what you achieved, not merely what you did.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ll close this post with some more examples of \u201cwhat I did\u201d words. Scour your procurement resume and see if you can replace sentences using these words with sentences that leverage the power of \u201csaved,\u201d \u201cincreased,\u201d \u201creduced,\u201d or \u201cimproved.\u201d<\/p>\n
