{"id":3226,"date":"2012-11-21T17:18:00","date_gmt":"2012-11-21T17:18:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.certitrek.com\/nlpa\/2012\/11\/21\/procurement-transformation-or-procurement-tweaking\/"},"modified":"2021-07-08T06:22:35","modified_gmt":"2021-07-08T10:22:35","slug":"procurement-transformation-or","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.certitrek.com\/nlpa\/blog\/procurement-transformation-or\/","title":{"rendered":"Procurement Transformation or Procurement Tweaking?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I hope that you have enjoyed the article \u201cTrue Procurement Transformations, Part I.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t miss updates on Procurement &amp; Supply Chain, Subscribe here!<\/p>\n<p>As I wrote in the article, procurement transformation \u201cmeans different things to different people\u201d and I proceeded to list things that will change in a \u201ctrue\u201d procurement transformation.\u00a0 What I didn\u2019t do was contrast what a procurement transformation is versus what it isn\u2019t.<\/p>\n<p>So, I will use this blog post to list some of the things that are sometimes referred to as \u201cprocurement transformations\u201d but are merely \u201ctweaks\u201d to the procurement function if done alone.\u00a0 Here are those examples of procurement tweaks:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Realigning responsibilities so that buyers\u2019 work is assigned based on new criteria (e.g., category, internal customer, supplier, etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Implementing one module of a procurement technology suite (e.g., <a href=\"https:\/\/www.certitrek.com\/nlpa\/blog\/leverage-the-power-of-spend-analysis\/\">spend analysis<\/a>, eSourcing, eProcurement, etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Creating a separate team to focus on procurement projects while leaving an existing team intact with no change to their responsibilities<\/li>\n<li>Taking on one new area of focus (e.g., supply risk, global sourcing, vendor collaboration, etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Pursuing non-traditional categories (e.g., marketing, fleet management, travel, etc.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you are only engaging in one of these bullet points, I mean no disrespect.\u00a0 Certainly making improvements in one facet of procurement is better than continuing to do \u201cbusiness as usual.\u201d\u00a0 I am only saying that it may not be proper to label that activity as a procurement transformation.<\/p>\n<p>Part II of the article coming soon!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I hope that you have enjoyed the article \u201cTrue Procurement [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":12,"featured_media":4083,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-3226","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-procurement"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v19.13 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>Procurement Transformation or Procurement Tweaking?
