{"id":3246,"date":"2013-01-25T14:06:00","date_gmt":"2013-01-25T14:06:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.certitrek.com\/nlpa\/2013\/01\/25\/how-to-stop-maverick-buying\/"},"modified":"2021-07-08T06:34:11","modified_gmt":"2021-07-08T10:34:11","slug":"how-to-stop-maverick-buying","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.certitrek.com\/nlpa\/blog\/how-to-stop-maverick-buying\/","title":{"rendered":"How To Stop Maverick Buying"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I hope that you enjoyed the article \u201cMaverick Buying:\u00a0 6 Steps For Stopping It.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fill out our subscription form below to stay up to date with our helpful tips and topics from our blog.<\/p>\n<p>In the article, I only had space for four of the six steps.\u00a0 So here are the other two!<\/p>\n<p><b>Step #5:\u00a0 Monitor spend and take corrective action.\u00a0<\/b> It would be nice if all you had to do was to put in rules and they would be followed.\u00a0 Unfortunately, that\u2019s not how the world works.\u00a0 That\u2019s why there are security guards, police, referees, prefects of discipline, and others in enforcement roles.\u00a0 You have to watch for unauthorized purchasing and then approach the offenders.\u00a0 Doing so may reveal weaknesses in policies, procedures, or communication or, on the other extreme, it may reveal individuals who have less-than-noble intentions.<\/p>\n<p><b>Step #6:\u00a0 \u201cOutbuy\u201d internal customers.\u00a0 <\/b>As explained in PurchTips Edition #264, some internal customers will think that they can perform purchasing activities better than you.\u00a0 When you\u2019ve demonstrated that you\u2019ve made the best purchasing decisions on behalf of the company, compliance will be at least a little easier.<\/p>\n<p>So, as you can see, there is no single \u201cmagic bullet\u201d for stopping maverick buying.\u00a0 It requires a multi-dimensional plan.\u00a0 But the good news is that it can be stopped.\u00a0 And I hope that this post and the article helps to give you the structure you need to eradicate maverick buying from your organization.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/lms.nextlevelpurchasing.com\/\"><b>NLPA Learning<\/b><\/a><\/span><span class=\"s2\"><b>:<\/b> Looking for authoritative procurement templates, tools, webinars, and more?
