The STAR Technique Works Here, Too!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I hope that you have enjoyed the article, \u201cHow To \u2018Sell\u2019 Procurement To Stakeholders.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t miss updates on Procurement &amp; Supply Chain, Subscribe here!<\/p>\n<p>In that article, I wrote that telling \u201cstories\u201d is one of the timeless persuasion principles you can use in selling procurement.\u00a0 I also gave nine examples of successes that you can use as the basis for your stories.<\/p>\n<p>Here, I\u2019ll address how to get the most mileage out of those stories.\u00a0 There\u2019s a technique that is most often associated with succeeding in job interviews:\u00a0 the STAR technique.<\/p>\n<p>The STAR technique provides a syntax for responding to behavioral interview questions in a way that enables you to paint a complete and convincing picture of how well you performed a job responsibility or completed a project in your past.\u00a0 This same syntax can be used for your procurement stories.<\/p>\n<p>STAR stands for Situation, Task, Action, and Result.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Situation provides context for the work you had to do<\/li>\n<li>The Task describes the goal you had to accomplish<\/li>\n<li>The Action describes the specific things you did to work towards the goal<\/li>\n<li>The Result is the outcome of your work, often a measurable improvement or at least an accomplishment of the goal within the timeframe expected<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>So, here\u2019s a challenge for you.\u00a0 First, think of a project where your work benefited a stakeholder \u2013 feel free to use one of the nine types of stories from the article if it applies to you.\u00a0 Second, think of the Situation, Task, Action, and Result for the work you did.<\/p>\n<p>As simple as that, you\u2019re prepared to win over another stakeholder.\u00a0 See, selling procurement isn\u2019t as hard as you thought, is it?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I hope that you have enjoyed the article, \u201cHow To [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":12,"featured_media":4022,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-3445","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-procurement"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v19.4 (Yoast SEO v19.13) - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>&quot;Selling&quot; Procurement?
