NEBBI Certified

Given a choice, anyone putting their business on the line would prefer working with a certified professional.

We talk a lot in this blog about how important it is to get a certified appraisal. That’s why we’re always pointing you in the direction of Certified Machinery & Equipment Appraisers (CMEAs).

A CMEA is a certification awarded by NEBB Institute, making us confident that an appraiser has undergone comprehensive training on the approaches to value, depreciation and value determination. What’s more, CMEAs adhere to USPAP regulations and a stringent code of ethics. Finally, an appraisal submitted by a CMEA is expected to withstand scrutiny by the IRS, courts, CPAs, and others.

But if there are Certified Machinery & Equipment Appraisers, are there Uncertified Machinery & Equipment Appraisers or UMEAs? That would be a terrible title to carry around! No, there are no UMEAs. There are, however, Machinery & Equipment Appraisers (MEAs).

The MEA credential, though similar to CMEA, is not the same as a Certified Machinery & Equipment Appraiser. An MEA is only authorized to analyze and consult when it comes to a machinery and equipment appraisal.

The Advantage of Continuous Professional Training

It is difficult to assess the true worth of professional development. However, some advantages of professional education outweigh the disadvantages.
