ISBA Announces New BCA-R Certification Program Dates

Published On: January 26th, 2025

Durham, NC – [January 26, 2025]  – The International Society of Business Appraisers (ISBA) proudly announces the next session of its esteemed Business Certified Appraiser in Review (BCA-R) Certification Program, scheduled for February 17 to 21, 2025, at 1 PM ET. As business valuation continues to play a crucial role in financial and legal decision-making, this five-day intensive course offers professionals a structured pathway to mastering business appraisal review processes with enhanced industry insights.

Bringing Key Value Drivers into Focus

Valuing a business requires more than just financial statements—it involves identifying critical value drivers that impact a company’s worth. The BCA-R program incorporates essential business valuation elements, such as operational efficiency, brand consistency, management quality, technology investments, market reach, and customer relationships. By emphasizing these factors, appraisers gain a well-rounded understanding of how businesses sustain and grow their value over time.

“Business appraisers must look beyond financial data to understand what truly drives value,” said ISBA Director Howard Lewis, the program’s lead instructor. “The BCA-R program is designed to equip professionals with the expertise to assess these factors and ensure credible, defensible valuation reviews.”

Why Business Valuation Review Matters

A thorough business valuation review process ensures the accuracy, compliance, and objectivity of appraisals. The BCA-R certification helps appraisers mitigate biases and improve the clarity of their valuation reports. With increasing regulatory scrutiny and market complexity, professionals with strong review skills are highly sought after in mergers, acquisitions, tax planning, and litigation cases.

Over five days, participants will engage in:

  • Day 1: Foundational Principles of Business Appraisal
  • Day 2: Market-Based Valuation Methods
  • Day 3: Income-Based Valuation Techniques
  • Day 4: Advanced Case Studies and Peer Review
  • Day 5: Final Review and Certification Exam

What Participants Are Saying

Participants of previous cohorts have highlighted the program’s ability to elevate their expertise and deliver immediate professional benefits.

Jim Lisi, BCA-R, CVA, MBA from SB Valuations Inc., shared: “I am very glad that I pursued my appraisal review credential with ISBA. The online format was ideal. Even with a heavy valuation practice workload, the online instruction allowed me to engage in the course material without compromising delivery to my clients. I was able to have personal interaction with Howard Lewis, my instructor, who is a wealth of knowledge and experience. And with the small class size, I was able to share my own experiences and learn more from them. Start to finish, I was certified in seven business days. I highly recommend this BCA-R program to any valuer looking to differentiate themselves with a credential that is different from others offered in the profession.”

Charlie Cole remarked, “Excellent! We’re fortunate to have them teach this.” Rey Gonzales added, “Excellent instructors, stories and examples are extremely helpful.” Hafiz Ahmad simply noted, “Excellent!” Other participants, such as Manuel Santana and Young Bebus, highlighted the program’s value: “Great!” said Santana, while Bebus shared, “Very knowledgeable and enjoyed the perspectives of each instructor.”
