The checklist can certainly help you develop a procurement policy from scratch.  But you can save a ton of time if you instead start with a procurement policy template, use the checklist to help identify your organization’s specific requirements, and then adapt the template into your personalized policy.

When you first start thinking about writing a procurement policy, you probably go through questions in your head like:

• What does a procurement policy look like?

Using a template provides answers to those questions.

Sure, an alternative would be to pay a consulting firm to write up a draft procurement policy for you to tweak.  But I can almost guarantee that the cost of that little engagement would far exceed the cost to enroll in the SPSM Certification Program.  So, enrolling would not only get you that consultant-quality procurement policy draft you’d be looking for.  You’d also get everything you need to earn the prestigious SPSM Certification – a qualification that large companies are increasingly preferring as they recruit to fill their open purchasing jobs with candidates who have proven their readiness to handle the most strategic procurement work.
