I run a small appraisal practice.  I have no staff and no partners so when I have an issue I need some help to resolve, I reach out via emails, phone calls, or social networking to a select group of professional individuals I know and am comfortable with.

For the most part, this works out just fine, however, occasionally my network of known professionals comes up dry, with no solution to my problem.  When that happens, I have to reach out to strangers, to Google, and occasionally even to my wife who has no interest in any valuation theory at all.

One of my goals has been to develop a way that our members can reach out to each other through social networking.  To create a place where practitioners can discuss valuation questions, find other professionals to take certain referrals, and simply have a place where members can meet each other.  We are working on setting up a conference for us all for next year, but I want something that we can use throughout the year, beginning right now!

A group using one of the social media services would fit the bill.  We considered Facebook but instead chose to use LinkedIn as that is the social media service that seems to best fit the professional characteristic we foster among ourselves as appraisers.

Our new LinkedIn Group is called Business Certified Appraiser (BCA) Forum.  I hope that this forum will provide a useful means of communication for all of us!

Instead of waiting for me to organize and send out a group-wide email to request help on a certain project, feel free to post a brief summary here, get feedback and connect with fellow members.

As this group grows, I will need assistance from some of you, our membership, for help in moderating the group.  So, if you would like to be considered for extra duties involving this new effort of ours, please let me know.

To request membership in the new group, please click the link below.  Group membership has to be approved by either myself or one of our assigned moderators.
